Forms, Reports, Captions, Views, and Images are all the components of the data model, stored within the Records Manager cluster for use by IRM Desktop Client for Records Managers and IRM Desktop Client for Users.

The data model has two status options:

  •  Read Only: In this mode, the components are stored within the Records Manager cluster and are considered published. All Records Manager clients use the published components—forms, reports, captions, images, and views.

  •  Draft: In this mode, the components are downloaded by Application Designer to the local client computer. You can make changes to the components, but the Records Manager clients won't use the changed components until the data model is published to the Records Manager cluster (which transitions the status of the data model back to Read Only).

The Records Manager clients automatically detect when a new data model is published. When a Records Manager client application is started, the data model is downloaded and stored on the local client computer. Publishing the data model to the server forces all the Records Manager clients to download the data model again, even if no changes were made.
