• Pointer: The default mouse pointer is used to deselect any specific controls listed below.

  • Label: Displays text that can't be edited by the user. Use this control to add captions to properties.

  • Text Entry: Lets the user enter text. Use this control for configuring text and numeric data types.

  • Button: Lets the user trigger an action by pressing a button. Name OK and Cancel buttons as IDOK and IDCANCEL. No profile is associated with these buttons.

  • FlowLayoutPanel: Represents a panel that dynamically lays out its contents horizontally or vertically.

  • Table Layout Panel: Lets the user arrange content in this grid. The Table Layout Panel control can expand to accommodate new controls when they're added.

  • Link Label: Lets the user trigger an action by selecting a link, similar to a hyperlink in a Web browser.

  • Check Box: Lets the user select or deselect an option or item.

  • Radio Button: Lets the user select a single option or item from a list.

  • Group Box: Groups controls together in a visible box.

  • Picture Box: Displays a graphic.

  • Combo Box: Lets the user view and select items from a drop-down box.

  • List Box: Lets the user select from a list of items.

  • Tab Control: This control creates tabs that let you group controls on each tab.

  • Panel: Groups items together and lets the user scroll through the items.

  • NumericUpDown: Lets the user select a numeric value.

  • Error Provider: Displays error information to the user.

  • Help Provider: Associates a help file with this form.

  • Track Bar: Lets the user visually adjust a numeric setting or to quickly navigate through a large amount of information.

  • PanelEx: This control is used for the colored side bar in most Records Manager dialog boxes.

  • Checked List Box: Lets the user view and select items using a check box next to each item.

  • Date Time Picker: Lets the user select a single item from a list of dates or times.

  • List View: Displays a list of items with icons, similar to the list view in Windows Explorer.

  • TreeView: Displays a list of items in a hierarchical structure. The user can expand and collapse any node, similar to Windows Explorer.

  • Data Grid: Displays tabular data from a dataset and allows for updates to the data source.

  • Masked Text Box: Constrains the format of user input in a form.
