When you preview a video in a workspace, the next-generation iManage platform plays the file directly in your browser and displays an automatically generated transcript alongside it. Transcription occurs automatically, with no separate steps required. The transcript is time-stamped and searchable, allowing you to locate specific moments in a recording by spoken content instead of manually scrubbing through the timeline. This feature is especially useful for reviewing meeting recordings, depositions, training sessions, and other content without having to watch or listen to the entire file.

NOTE: Audio only files transcription is not currently supported.

Transcription is processed securely on cloudimanage.com in your region, and your
data is never shared with third parties or used to train models. Your transcript
respects the same ethical walls and workspace permissions as the source video
file, and is encrypted and retained according to the same data governance
standards as the original media.

NOTE: Transcript generation is not instant. Processing time scales with video
duration—approximately one hour of processing for one hour of recorded
content, though system load may extend this. The transcript panel displays the
transcript once processing is complete. If you open Preview before processing
finishes, the Transcript panel remains empty; check back after the file has had time
to process.

NOTE: Transcriptions are officially supported for English (US), French (France), French (Canada), German (Germany), Spanish (Spain), Chinese (China), Japanese (Japan), and Portuguese (Brazil).

Preview a video or file and open its transcript

  1. In a workspace or folder, find the video file you want to review. The document list displays a type indicator, such as MP4 or WEBM, for each file.

  2. Select the file name to open it in Preview. Playback controls appear at the bottom of the player, including play/pause, volume, playback speed, and full screen.

  3. In the right-hand panel, select Transcript.

The transcript panel opens next to the video and shows the automatically generated text, broken into segments with a time stamp for each.

  4. The automatic transcript is searchable globally, not just in the transcript panel, in accordance with the access permissions of the video file.

Search and navigate the transcript

  • Use the Search transcript field at the top of the panel to find specific words or phrases. Matching segments scroll into view.

  • Select a time stamp in the transcript to move video playback to that point in the recording.

  • You can scroll through the transcript independently of the video to read ahead or review earlier segments.

Save the transcript as a related document

Select Save as Related Document at the top of the transcript panel to store the transcript as its own document, linked to the source video. This makes the transcript text searchable and shareable on its own, separate from the video file.

Additional preview options

Select the expand panel icon in the top-right corner of the preview to open the transcript in a wider, side-by-side layout, which is useful when reviewing longer recordings. Standard document actions—Download, Copy, Upload New Version, Versions, and Add to My Favorites—remain available from the toolbar above the player while you review the recording and its transcript.
