iManage Work for Outlook user experience

Previously, when selecting a different email in the Outlook message list, the iManage Work for Outlook task pane was not always refreshing to display the details of the newly selected email. Microsoft worked to improved this experience.

Information: iManage Work for Outlook includes safeguards to help ensure that only the currently selected email(s) in Outlook can be filed.

Work for Outlook initial availability

After your administrator enables iManage Work for Outlook for your mailbox, it may take 72 hours for it to be available in Outlook due to Microsoft’s Add-in policy.

Linked Folder filing

Filing with linked folders happens only once daily or when you sync the mailbox in the Work for Outlook task pane. Filing performance will be improved by the General Availability release of the product.

Emails filed before migration

Emails filed to cloudimanage.com before the mailbox was enrolled in Cloud email management won't have the Filed Category applied to them at this time.

Types of Outlook messages not filed

The following types of Outlook messages are not filed by iManage Work for Outlook:

  • Meeting requests and responses

  • Appointments

  • Notes

  • Tasks

  • Encrypted email

  • Email in online archives

iManage Work for Outlook user experience

Internal Luggage Tags aren’t being removed when you select Send Only and when the Remove Luggage Tags for Send Only option is enabled in iManage Control Center.

In Outlook Web Access (OWA), the first time the user tries to add iManage Work for Outlook, it isn't initially discoverable until they refresh the browser page.

When replying to or forwarding emails that have internal luggage tags, the task pane doesn’t reflect the location for the luggage tag in the subject line at this time. Emails sent with luggage tags will be filed as expected.

Mobile device

Microsoft doesn’t support Send and File on mobile devices.

The iManage Work Panel isn't available with iManage Work for Outlook.

Dragging emails from Outlook to Work Web or to the task pane isn’t supported. Microsoft doesn't support dragging from new Outlook.
