Starting a co-authoring session

You can send across a file to other users who have an iManage Work account for co-authoring the file, if:

  • You have read/write or full access to a Microsoft Office file saved in iManage Work.

  • You have created a new file in a folder using Microsoft Office for the web.

With the integration of Microsoft Office for the web, when you check out a file for editing, the checkout is not explicit. Hence other users who have iManage Work and Microsoft Office 365 accounts and have read/write or full access to the file can sign in to iManage Work and open the file in edit mode and co-author the file.

You can copy the URL from within the editing session in Microsoft Office for the web and send it to the other users. These users can sign in using their iManage Work and Microsoft Office 365 accounts and start editing the file using Microsoft Office for the web.

In addition, you can also select the file and navigate to Copy > Copy Link and share the copied file link with other users. When users select the link and sign in using their iManage Work and Microsoft Office O365 accounts, the file opens in Preview, by default. They can use the Edit using Microsoft Office for the web available in Preview to make their edits.
