Using keyboard shortcuts

Checklist shortcuts

  • Create a task: With the Tasks field in edit mode, press Enter/Return to create a task below the current task at the same level.

  • Delete a task: With the Tasks field in edit mode, press Function+Delete (Mac) or Delete (Windows)/press the Backspace key.

  • Expand and collapse parent-level tasks: Press Shift+Right arrow key to expand a parent-level task (task that's marked with a gray highlight and has sub-tasks) and Shift+Left arrow key to collapse a parent-level task.

  • Move from one task to another: Use the Up and Down arrow keys to navigate between the various tasks in the checklist.

  • Change task hierarchy: With the Tasks field in edit mode, press Tab to indent and Shift+Tab to outdent tasks.

  • Move from one task field to another: Use the Left and Right arrow keys to navigate between the various fields for a task.

  • Edit a field: With the focus on a field, press Enter/Return to make it editable.

  • Undo/redo text: With a text field in edit, press Command+Z (Mac) or Ctrl+Z (Windows) to undo the last action. Press Command+Shift+Z (Mac) or Ctrl+Y (Windows) to redo the last action you undid.

  • Exit edit mode: Press Esc to exit the edit mode.

  • Clear the due date or delete an assignee: With the Due or Assignee field in edit mode, press Command+D (Mac) or Ctrl+D (Windows) to remove the due date or assignee for a task.

  • Preview, change, unlink file: With the focus on the attachment, press Enter/Return to view the metadata for a file. Press Enter/Return again to preview the file, Command+Enter (Mac) or Ctrl+Enter (Windows) to select another file, and Command+D (Mac) or Ctrl+D (Windows) to unlink the file.

  • Formatting note text: Use the following shortcuts to format text:

    • Command+B (Mac) or Ctrl+B (Windows): Bold

    • Command+I (Mac) or Ctrl+I (Windows): Italics

    • Command+U (Mac) or Ctrl+U (Windows): Underline

    • [ ]+ Space: Add a check box

    • [x]+Space: Add a tick-marked check box

    • Tab: Indent text

  • Cut, paste, copy text: Use the following shortcuts while updating text fields (copy, duplicate, move, and remove text):

    NOTE:

    When you paste in a blank Tasks field, the import tasks dialog box appears and the text is treated as a task(s).

    • Copy: Command+C (Mac) or Ctrl+C (Windows)

    • Cut: Command+X (Mac) or Ctrl+X (Windows)

    • Paste: Command+V (Mac) or Ctrl+V (Windows)

  • Select checklist options: Make sure that you're not in edit mode (press Esc to exit the edit mode) and then press Tab to access the various checklist options, such as Help, Search, Filter tasks, Change view, Show Details, More Options, Add a task, or Import tasks. With an option in focus, press Enter/Return to display the available sub-options and press Enter/Return to select them.

Tasks view shortcuts

  • Move from one task to another: Up and Down arrow keys to navigate between the various tasks in the list across all matter headers.

  • Expand and collapse matter lists: Move to the required matter header using the Up and Down arrow keys. With the required matter header in focus, press Enter/Return toggle key to expand the matter view to display the tasks in the matter, or to collapse the task list. Alternatively, when the focus is on a task or the matter header, press Shift+Left arrow key to collapse the matter view or press Shift+Right arrow key to expand the matter view to display the task list.

  • Access matter options: When the focus is on the matter header, press the Right arrow key to access the matter options and then the Left and Right arrow keys to navigate between these options.

  • Open Details pane: When in the Tasks view, press Tab to open the Details pane for the task in the list that's currently in focus.

Details pane shortcuts

  • Move between fields: With the focus in the Details pane, use the Up and Down arrow keys to navigate between the fields in the pane.

  • Edit a field/delete a task: Press Enter/Return to edit a selected field. With images/download/thumbnails/157570528/DeleteOption.png selected, press Enter/Return once to display the Delete option and again to delete the task.

  • Exit edit mode: Press Esc to exit the edit mode for a field and then use the Up and Down arrow keys to again navigate between the fields.

  • Shift focus from other task fields to the Name field: Press Shift+Tab to return the focus to the Name field. The pointer moves from the currently selected field to the Name field.

  • Go to the task list: When you're done with edits to the fields in the Details pane, press Shift+Tab twice (pressing once shifts the focus to the Name field) to go to the task list. The focus shifts to the task for which the Details pane is open.

NOTE:

The shortcuts described in the Checklists shortcuts section in the preceding text, for editing the values of the task fields, are available when you enter the edit mode for the fields in the Details pane too.

Microsoft Outlook iManage Tracker panel shortcuts

  • Move from one task to another: Press the Up and Down arrow keys to navigate between the various tasks in the list across all matter headers.

  • Expand and collapse matter lists: Move to the required matter header using the Up and Down arrow keys. With the required matter header in focus, press Enter/Return toggle key to expand the matter view, to display the tasks in the matter, or to collapse the task list. Alternatively, when the focus is on a task or the matter header, press Shift+Left arrow key to collapse the matter view or press Shift+Right arrow key to expand the matter view to display the task list.

  • Open Details pane: For the task that's currently selected in the task list, press Enter/Return to open the Details pane.

  • Exit Details pane: Press Esc once to exit the edit mode for a field and twice to exit the Details pane and return to the task list.

    NOTE:

    The shortcuts described in the Checklists shortcuts and Details pane shortcuts sections in the preceding text, for navigating within the Details pane and editing the values of the task fields in the pane, are available for the Details pane in Microsoft Outlook too.
