iManage Auto Updates enables you to deploy and maintain the iManage Work desktop software. The iManage Auto Updates feature provides the following benefits to end-users:

  • Self-service installs: Install updates at your convenience. You don't have to rely on the IT team's schedule.

  • Real-time notification:

    • Visual indicator: Receive notifications from iManage Work if the desktop client isn't installed. In fact, you can download the desktop client directly from iManage Work for installation.

    • What's new: Make an informed decision. Learn about the new features and enhancements before installing the updates.

    • Asynchronous downloads: Continue working while the iManage installer downloads in the background.

  • Access to latest features: Stay up-to-date by installing and running the latest software version.

Additionally, the Auto Updates capability empowers IT administrators to easily deploy the latest updates to selected users' desktops, and eventually across the entire organization.

Depending on your requirement, you can employ the following deployment strategies for your Auto Updates rollout:

  • Direct to User: This is the most straightforward approach. When iManage publishes updates, they're made available directly to your end users. This keeps your cost of management for maintaining the iManage software on user desktops very low.

  • Multi-Channel: For firms who need to customize the frequency of updates and their timing or who have business requirements that can't be met by the default software channels that iManage provides, configuration capabilities are available to allow firms to leverage iManage Autoupdates, but to publish those updates on their own schedule.  The maintenance cost of pursuing the Multi-Channel approach is slightly higher than Direct-to-User but consists mainly of maintaining configuration files in a centralized location.

  • Enterprise: For firms who want to completely control iManage’s desktop software deployment on user desktops or want to use iManage autoupdates to deploy other products using the same mechanism, options exist to host your own autoupdate server and completely customize the software delivered to end-users.

The following table lists the tasks that you can manage under various deployment strategies:

You are free to use one or more deployment strategies for your rollout. For example, you can set up an environment based on the Direct to User option to automatically pull the latest iManage software updates for internal testing with limited users. After completing the verification, you can use the Multi-Channel or Enterprise option to deploy the fully tested software updates across the organization.
