iManage Work Desktop for Windows can be configured in an Enhanced Accessibility mode. This allows iManage Work for Windows to be used with screen-reading software to read on-screen text, including:
iManage tab, ribbon, menus, dialog boxes, and panels available in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Visio and Project.
iManage tab, menus, dialog boxes, and panels available in Adobe Acrobat.
Email Management toolbar and Select Filing Location dialog box in Microsoft Outlook
iManage Work Panel
iManage Work Agent Services
iManage Work Desktop for Windows supports the following assistive technology and is tested with the following environments:
Assistive technology | JAWS 2021 and later |
Microsoft Windows OS | Windows 11 and Windows 10 |
Microsoft Office platforms | Office 365, Office 2021, Office 2019, and Office 2016 |
Adobe Acrobat platforms | Adobe Acrobat Reader DC and Adobe Acrobat Pro DC |
Your administrator can enable enhanced accessibility by configuring the iManageEnhancedAccessibility setting to Y in the imWorkOptions.xml configuration file. This is used to activate functions that work around circumstances when JAWS cannot read iManage Work user interface components. For more information, contact your administrator or refer to the imWorkOptions.xml section in the iManage Work Desktop for Windows Customization Guide.
With this option enabled, ensure that you press the TAB key to enable JAWS to read the text displayed in iManage dialog boxes and to navigate through the iManage dialog boxes.
NOTE: If you want the JAWS screen reader to read your mouse hover actions, enable the Mouse Echo option in JAWS.
You can also use the keyboard alternatives for mouse clicks on ribbons, iManage panels, dialog boxes and menus. Refer to the following sections for more information:
NOTE: The specific shortcuts designation for Microsoft Office, Outlook, Visio, and Project ribbon bars may vary based on the:
Version of Microsoft applications installed.
Microsoft features or configurations selected.
Other integrated products installed.
Language set for these applications.
IMPORTANT: We recommend enabling the iManageEnhancedAccessibility configuration option only when a screen reader is being used. When this option is turned on, static text fields and other controls that are normally not part of tab order when using the TAB key are enabled as tab stops for the screen reader to vocalize the text.
Additional Windows notifications are also generated when filing emails to vocalize the email filing progress dialog box displayed during the filing process. Users who don’t use a screen reader will need to perform extra keyboard steps to complete some actions.
