NOTE: If your administrator has enabled the Checkout Documents In Home Directory option, the default checkout path for files changes to the <your home directory>/iManage folder. For more information, refer to the Customizing application settings section in iManage Work Desktop for Mac Installation Guide.

Using the Checkout and Checkin options in iManage Work

  1. Sign in to iManage Work and browse to the file you want to check out.

  2. Select the More Actions > Checkout option available on the file right-click menu or the kebab menu  for the file.
The file that is downloaded to the Documents > iManage folder and the checked out  icon is displayed for the file in iManage Work.

  3. After updating the file, select the More Actions > Checkin option available on the file right-click menu or the kebab menu for the file.
The file is removed from the Documents > iManage folder and the checked out icon is removed for the file in iManage Work.

NOTE: Files checked out using the Checkout option in iManage Work, can be checked in using only the Checkin option in iManage Work and not by simply saving and closing the files as done for the files checked out using the Edit option in iManage Work.

Using the Edit option

  1. Select the iManage Agentmenulet on the Mac menu bar, and then select Open iManage Work.
If prompted, enter your sign-in credentials for iManage Work and select Sign in.

  2. Browse to the desired file, select the  icon, and then select Open > Edit. Alternatively, right-click the file and then select Open > Edit.
The file is downloaded to the Documents > iManage folder and then opens in its native application. It is checked out and ready for edits.
(Optional) To view the change in the file status displayed in the iManage Work list, select the refresh  icon or press Command+R. The checked out  icon is displayed for the file.

NOTES:

  • The Edit option is available for iWork files only if you use iManage Work web client 10.2.0.12 or later. If you have an older iManage Work web client, use the Open Document option on the iManage menulet or the Services menu in an integrated iWork application to open/check out files using the iManage Work Open dialog. For more information, refer Opening files from iManage Work. Note that the iManage Work options on the Services menu work only if you use the classic Outlook view; the options don’t function in new Outlook.

  • On macOS Sonoma and macOS Sequoia, a system-generated message is displayed asking you to give the application access to your Documents folder when you check out a file or open it for editing. For more information, refer to the Security configuration section in iManage Work Desktop for Mac Installation Guide.
