To create a media type:
In Library Manager, expand the cluster, then the library, and then Metadata.
Under Metadata, right-click the Media Type node and select Add.
In the Add Metadata dialog, update the fields as specified in the following table:
NOTE: The entire content of the Add Metadata dialog corresponds to a single row in a metadata table.

SID | Don't modify. This field is a system-generated ID. |
IS_ENABLED | This field controls whether the metadata can be assigned during data creation and updates, or if it's only preserved in existing data. |
MODIFIED_TIME | Don't modify. |
CREATED_TIME | Don't modify. |
MEDIA_TYPE_ID | Enter a short identifier for this media type, such as Box. |
NAME | Enter the name of this media type—for example, Insert - RED. |
DESCRIPTION | Enter a short description for this new media type. |
ICON | Insert a unique name for the icon resource, such as INSERT_RED. This resource name is used by the IRM Desktop Client for Records Managers applications when displaying icons. For more information about customizing the icons in the client applications, refer to iManage Records Manager Application Designer User Guide. NOTE: iManage Records Manager primarily supports icons of size 16 x 16 (WxH) pixels. |
CIRCULATABLE_F | Indicates if the media can be requested when it's used in the file plan or a standard. |
PARENT_REQUIRED_F | Indicates if items of this type require a parent container. For example, an Insert folder may not be filed in the file plan without having an expandable folder as a parent. When you select this option, you must also edit the parent media type field “VALID_CHILDREN_RSID” so that the parent media type is allowed to contain the new media type. |
IS_BOX_F | Indicates if this media type is a box. |
CAN_BE_BOXED_F | Indicates if this media type can be added to a box. |
AUTO_GENERATED_BARCODE_F | Indicates if IRM Server will generate a bar code when a new box or file part is created. |
ELIGIBILITY_REPORT_F | Indicates if this media type can be included in eligibility reports. |
NOTES | Enter any additional information about this media type. |
VALID_CHILDREN_RSID | Choose all other media types that can be contained within this media type:

METADATA_ID | Don't modify. This field represents an internal pointer to the table row. Library Manager will assign a value to this field after you select OK. |
CAN_BE_CUTOFF_F | Select the check box to indicate if this media type can be cut off. |
DEFAULT_RANK | The Media Type box in the IRM client, shows a list of valid media types based on the parent media type for the file part or box flag for boxes. The default selection in this field is set by finding the valid media type with the lowest value in the Default_Rank setting. The default_rank values for the default media types are set as follows:

IS_EXTERNAL_F | This field indicates if this media type is an external record. |
SUPPORTS_ELECTRONIC_RENDITION | You can select the check box to enable add and view electronic rendition for this media type. |
Select OK.
