It's possible to create a new box from the Barcode Scanner application. The initial steps would involve changing the default value for CreateNewBox in the iManageRMBarcode.exe.config file as mentioned below:

1. In the C:\Program Files\iManage\Records Manager\Desktop Client folder, locate the iManageRMBarcode.exe.config file.

2. Right-click the config file and select Edit.
   The HTML code can be edited using a simple editor such as Notepad++. 

3. The default value associated with the box is False. Replace the default value with Auto, Edit, and Prompt.
   This lets you create a box from the Barcode operations directly.

   • If the value is set as False, creating a new box from a barcode operation isn't possible.

   • If the value is set as Edit, the New Box dialog opens when the user selects the Box field in the Barcode Scanner application.

   • If the value is set as Auto, a new box is automatically created under the box name entered in the Box field in the Barcode Scanner application. 

   • If the value is set as Prompt, a pop-up dialog opens with the following options that you can select:

     • Auto: Create a new box.

     • Edit: Edit an existing box.

     • No: Cancel the operation.

5. After changing the value for CreateNewBox in the iManageRMBarcode.exe.config file, save the file and restart the Barcode Scanner application for the changes to be effective.

To create a box:

1. Launch the Barcode application.

2. Select Box.

3. In the Box field, enter a name for the box.

4. Add the item ID.

5. Select Process.
