A box is a container used to store and organize file parts. It isn't a part of the file plan but can contain file parts. A box can be assigned its own retention schedule.
Boxes must be assigned a media type, and can be circulated like other file parts. They don't have a separate barcode ID. The box ID is used as a barcode and is editable, so that you can enter a value that may have come from a vendor. If configured, boxes may also have a vendor identifier to ensure uniqueness of box identifiers where there are multiple warehouse vendors.
NOTE: You must have the Box Admin privilege to create and modify boxes.
