The Area of Law defines a collection of statutes in a given jurisdiction to which the matter belongs. Predefined areas of law include: Bankruptcy, Divorce, Intellectual property, Labor relations, Litigation, Pro bono, Real estate, Tax & Certified accounting, and Criminal.

To select an area of law for this matter:

  1. Select the area of law in the upper pane of the Browse and Select dialog. Hold down the Ctrl key to select multiple items.

  2. Select Add Selected Item(s). 
    The Selected Items pane displays the items selected. 

  3. Select OK.

To remove an area of law from this matter:

  1. In the List pane, right-click the matter and select Properties.

  2. In the Area of Law field, select the  icon.
    The Browse and Select dialog opens.

  3. In the Selected Items pane, select the area of law to remove.

  4. Select Remove Selected Item.

  5. Select OK.
