The file plan provides the high-level taxonomy and containers for filing records. It enables you to file documents and folders in a structured manner according to set business rules. These rules are defined by your file plan standards.

In the application, the file plan acts as the top level for all records. The file plan consists of the following hierarchical elements:

  • Client

  • Matter

  • File Parts

Privileges control which users can create or modify each element of the file plan. Boxes are not included in the file plan but can contain file parts.

NOTE: Expandable plus signs will appear if a file part has a child.
