You can create two-way relationships between file parts. Relating helps to organize and group file parts so that they can be easily retrieved. For example, you can create a relationship between a contract and its covering letter.
NOTE: Relationships between file parts are reciprocal in nature. For example, if the source is related to the target by the Superseding link, then the target is automatically related to the source by the Superseded link.
In the Navigation pane, select the Records tab.
Search or browse for the file part, and select it. This file part can be referred to as the “source”.
From the Action menu, select New Relationship. The New Relationship dialog opens.
In the File to Link field, select the icon and select the file part that relates to the source. This file part can be referred to as the “target”.
In the Link Type field, select the relationship type:
Superseding: The source replaces the target as the current record.
Superseded: The source is replaced by the target as the more current record.
Cross-Reference: The target and source are linked as cross-references.
Supporting Document: The source is the supporting document to the target.
Supported Document: The target is the supporting document to the source.
Electronic Rendition: The target is the electronic rendition URL of the supporting document.
NOTE: For Electronic Renditions to function correctly, configuration must be applied by the system administrator. For more information, refer to Configure IRM for Electronic Renditions section in iManage Records Manager Administration Guide.
Select OK.
The Related Records dialog box is displayed listing the related file parts.
If Electronic Rendition has been selected as the Link Type, complete the following fields:
Link to document in iManage Work (insert the iManage link to the document).
Friendly name (optional field).
Select OK.
