In corporate legal departments and law firms, many pleadings are filed and numbered in order as individual documents within a Pleadings Binder. A Pleadings Index included at the beginning of such a binder serves as its table of contents.
When documents are received in the wrong order, file clerks need to put them in the right place and then number the next documents.
You must have modify access to the file part to perform these operations.
NOTE: You can renumber file parts that have a retention hold applied on them.
Rules for Renumbering
The following rules are applicable when renumbering a file part:
The file part mustn't contain more records than the allowable configured limit. By default, the limit is set to 250 records. To set the limit, refer to Display Items.
The file part must contain records whose IDs conform to a pattern. File parts with records having varying ID patterns aren't eligible for renumbering.
