In the Navigation pane, select the Records tab.
Search or browse for the file part, and then select it.
From the Action menu, select Renumber Contents. The Renumber File Parts dialog opens.
NOTE: If the file part selected is the last-level file part or it contains no records, the Renumber Container <Parent File Part ID> option is available in the Action menu.
The selected file part is automatically displayed in the Renumber contents field, and its contents appear in the List pane. By default, records are sorted by ID.
To change the current selection, select the icon and select a different file part. The List pane refreshes to display the contents of the recently selected file part.
In the Starting ID Number box, specify the ID to use for the first record in the sequence.
NOTE: The number in the Starting ID Number box defaults to the least ordinal (numeric part) of the record IDs. As the records are typically sorted by ID, the Starting ID Number box defaults to the ordinal of the first record ID.
Select Renumber File. The List pane refreshes and the IDs of the records are renumbered and updated.
Select Close.
Each time the Renumber operation is performed, a Modify Record entry is added to the audit history of the record.
NOTE:
When renumbering the contents of a file part, if a record is encountered for which you don't have modify access, the entire renumber operation is canceled.
When renumbering, the file part's label will be added to the Label Queue for reprinting.
