1. On the Home tab in Microsoft Outlook, select one of the following:

    • New Email

    • New Items > Appointment

    • New Items > Meeting

    • New Items > Task

  2. In the iManage Work group, select Insert iManage Attachment. The Select dialog appears. It displays the locations on the iManage Work Server that you are currently connected to.

NOTE: The Insert iManage Attachment option is also available on the Insert tab in the New Email, New Appointment, New Meeting, and New Task windows.

(Optional) To insert attachments from locations on other iManage Work Servers, select the desired server from the Connect to server list to view the updated contents list, and browse to the desired location.

NOTE: If your Work Desktop for Windows is connected to Work Web, you can attach documents and document links to Outlook emails using drag-and-drop from the iManage Work Open and Save dialog.

  1. Locate the desired iManage Work document and select it. You can also search for the document using the search option in the Select dialog box. For more information, refer to Using the search box.

  2. For email attachments only: If your Work Desktop for Windows is connected to Work Web, and select one or more files, then perform one of the following options to Attach file(s), Attach link(s), or Attach file(s) and link(s):

    1. Drag to insert URL and NRL links of the file(s).

    2. Ctrl+drag to insert the file(s) only.

    3. Shift+Ctrl+drag to insert both the links and the file(s).

  3. For all Outlook Items listed above: At the bottom of the dialog, select Attach File. The document is attached. Alternatively, expand the Attach File AttachFileDropdown.png  drop-down menu and select from the following:

    • Attach Link to insert the document as both an NRL and URL link.

    • Attach File and Link to insert the document and the NRL link.

NOTEs:

  • The iwAttachmentFileNameFormat option enables you to customize the attachment name. For more information, refer to the imWorkOptions.xml section in iManage Work Desktop for Windows Customization Guide.

  • If you insert an attachment using Attach Link or Attach File and Link, the format of the link defaults to the name of the document in the body of the email, task, meeting, or appointment.

  • If you insert multiple attachments as links, each link will be listed on a separate line.

  • If any text in the body of the email, task, meeting, or appointment is already selected at the time of inserting the iManage Attachment as a link, this text will be used for the link description.

  • Dragging and dropping a document from the iManage Work Panel into an open email will continue to generate a hyperlink to the document in a table format.

  • With the version 10.6.0 release, when you insert an attachment when composing an email, the file picker dialog remembers your selection, that is, whether to insert a link, a file, or both. Hence, from now when always want to send a link, or a file, or both you don't have to select the option every single time when you add an attachment.
