Table: Key terminologies
Term | Definition |
---|---|
Mobile Device Management (MDM) | Software that enables IT administrators to monitor, secure, and apply policies on mobile devices, such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, and other endpoints. The primary goals of MDM are to protect the corporate network and to ensure that mobile devices within the organization deliver optimized functionality and are fully secure. |
Managed App Configuration (MAC) | Allows IT administrators to remotely define app settings when an app is pushed to devices. For example, administrators can specify the default server connection details, app idle time, default home page, and so on. This enables users to get started with the app quickly, resulting in a superior user experience. |
Mobile Application Management (MAM) | Software and services that enable IT administrators to provision and control access to mobile apps that are used for business purposes on company-managed, employee-owned, or external consultants' mobile devices. With MAM, IT administrators can manage and secure app data, as they have granular controls at the application level. MAM is different from MDM, which is used for controlling the entire device and requires that users install a service agent after enrolling their device. |
Unified Endpoint Manage (UEM) | BlackBerry Unified Endpoint Manager provides endpoint management and policy control for your devices and applications. UEM allows you to securely manage your endpoints on-premises or in the cloud. With BlackBerry UEM Cloud, you can manage devices, enterprise apps including BlackBerry Dynamics apps, and secure content with all the benefits that come with software as a service (SaaS). |
