Keyword search relies on matching text within a document’s content or profile fields, which can return imprecise results if terminology varies, or miss documents that don’t happen to contain the exact search term. Enriched metadata properties are structured, AI-populated values (such as Category, Governing Law, Jurisdiction, and Agreement Date). Searching or filtering by them returns documents based on their actual classification, not on whether specific wording is present in the text.

Because enrichment runs automatically and consistently, results don’t depend on documents being manually profiled at the time they’re saved. Combining multiple enriched properties in Advanced Search or filters (for example, Category is Agreement and Agreement Date is after January 1, 2025) narrows results precisely, in a way a single keyword search can’t.

This section covers using these properties directly through Basic Search, Advanced Search, and filters in iManage Work Web. This is separate from how Ask iManage uses enriched metadata.
