This section explains what happens to enriched metadata when you edit, copy, move, delete, or create a new version of a document.
In this section:
Editing enriched metadata in a document
When you edit an enriched metadata field in the document Properties panel (including deleting a value), the system automatically updates enrichment behavior for that document version.
Editing any enriched metadata field automatically sets Enrichment Disabled to Yes for that version, preventing enriched values from being overwritten by future enrichment runs. By default, this setting is inherited by subsequent document versions.
For a complete explanation of how the Enrichment Disabled field works—including inheritance, re-enabling enrichment, and the meanings of Yes, No, and Not Set—refer to Working with enriched metadata properties > Manually editing an enriched property.
Copying a document
When you copy a document, none of the enriched fields are copied across to the new document. Upon saving the copy, enrichment runs against this document as a new document.
Moving a document
Moving a document to a different folder or location does not affect its enriched properties. All metadata remains intact.
Moving to trash/restore
If a document is deleted and later restored, all enriched properties are preserved.
Creating a new version
When a new version of a document is created:
Enriched metadata values are inherited from the previous version.
The Enrichment Disabled setting is also inherited from the previous version by default.
The administrative fields (Enrichment Date, Enrichment Status Code, and Enrichment Version) are reset if the new version is enriched after being saved.
Whether enrichment runs for the new version depends on the Enrichment Disabled value:
If Enrichment Disabled is Not set (cleared), automatic enrichment resumes immediately for that version.
If Enrichment Disabled is set to No, enrichment is allowed and runs the next time the document is opened or edited.
If Enrichment Disabled is set to Yes, enrichment doesn't run, even if the document is opened, edited, or reindexed.
