Introduction to Templates
This application enables you to define "Flexible" templates for creating workspaces or folders beneath workspaces from iManage Work client applications. You can create templates with logical folder structure per business needs. The end-users can then use these templates in iManage Work clients to create workspaces and the folder structure defined in the template, or folders directly under an existing workspace. This helps in avoiding unnecessary folder creation by the users, and reduces the complexity around the workspace structure.
You can use the templates to create the following:
Workspace - iManage Work client applications enable users to create workspaces, using the predefined workspace templates. The templates are created by the administrator using iManage Control Center (iCC). A folder structure is defined under each template. The folder structure comprises of different folder types such as document folder, search folder, and tab . When users use these templates to create workspaces, the predefined folder structure in the template is automatically added under the workspace. This feature is different from the default New Workspace option available in iManage Work desktop clients, wherein a dialog to set properties, security, and profile details required to create a new workspace appears. The user also has to manually set metadata and security across both the workspace and folders, which is prone to error and far too complex for an ordinary user.
Flexible Folders - iManage Work client applications enable users to create all types of folders at once under a workspace by using a predefined folder structure defined in iCC templates. These folders are called as Flexible Folders. Using this feature, firms can empower users with creating folders when necessary. This reduces complexity around the workspace structure by providing a core set of folders at the onset with workspace creation, and gives flexibility to users to add folders defined by the firm.
