In iManage Disposition Manager a close date, also called a retention start date, or record close date or trigger date is the retention date that triggers the retention period. A typical retention rule example is 7 Years after Matter Close, meaning the retention period begins counting from when the matter closes.
Example
If you have a litigation matter that closes on March 15, 2024, and your retention rule is "7 Years after Matter Close Date":
Close Date: March 15, 2024
Retention period: 7 years
Eligible for Disposition: March 15, 2031
All the trigger dates should be assigned in iManage Work at cloudimanage.com. We recommend that you use custom21 to custom24 fields to create the close date. After the custom fields are set up in iManage Control Center, you have to add value to the workspace, folder, or sub-folder in iManage Work. For more information, refer Setting up custom fields for iManage Disposition Manager.
NOTE: Make sure that you set the dates at the same level as the retention ID. For example, if you have applied the retention ID to a folder, the dates should be applied to the same folder.
The next step is to make sure the dates are mapped in iManage Disposition Manager to the property type Reviewer using the Add Property Mapping option. The set dates then appear in the Add Event or Edit Event dialogs and can be used when creating events.
