The library in an IRM Server cluster has a unique administrator account called ADMIN with an associated password. Connecting to the library using Library Manager requires signing in with the ADMIN account password, or using a user account with System Admin Group membership for that library. Access is by library, enabling different administrators to have access to different libraries.

While user accounts with System Admin Group membership can be administered and reset as trustees, the default ADMIN account requires a different procedure to be reset, as follows:

  1. Expand the cluster name on the left, and then expand the library.

  2. Specify the ADMIN user account and the default password, that is, admin and select OK.

It's strongly recommended that you change the default password of the ADMIN account as indicated in this procedure.

The configurable components of the library are displayed.

  3. Expand Trustees. The ADMIN user is a system user.

  4. Select System Users.

System users (including the ADMIN) are displayed in the right pane.

  5. Right-click the ADMIN system user and select Edit.

  6. In the Edit System User dialog, enter a new password twice and select OK.

Any future attempts to connect to the library using Library Manager will require entering the ADMIN password.

  7. Select the All check box to select all Valid IP addresses.

  8. Clear the All check box and then select Add to specify the IP addresses for which access should be available.

  9. Enter the valid IP addresses in the box and select OK.

Don't use admin as the password for the ADMIN system user account—doing so configures Library Manager to not display a sign-in screen when connecting to the library.

Lockout of ADMIN Account and unlocking ADMIN Account

If an administrator repeatedly attempts and fails to connect to a library using Library Manager, IRM Server disables the ADMIN account. We recommend that at least two user accounts with System Admin Group membership are created, as group member accounts can be administered and reset as trustees, by other members of this group.
