This section contains the following information about record status:

The status of a record defines the form or state of the record during its life cycle. Common examples of record status are Active, Inactive, Archived, and Destroyed.

Retention events typically result in a change in record status. For example, when a retention event occurs which causes the record to be destroyed, typically the record status should also be marked as destroyed.

Normal circulation (check-in, check-out) of a record doesn't affect the record status. Circulation of a record is tracked separately by Circulation Status.
