Installing IRM Handheld Scanning Module on Zebra TC21, Zebra TC52, or other Android operating system devices

IRM Handheld Scanning Module is an Android application (app) called iManage Barcode Scanner.

Installation Requirements

Successful installation of the iManage Barcode Scanner application requires the device to have the following permissions granted and settings configured:

  • Configuration to allow access of Unknown Apps, for the iManage Barcode Scanner app.

  • All permissions requested by the iManage Barcode Scanner app during installation.

  • Storage permissions.

Installation Steps

  1. Download the latest IRM Handheld Scanning Module (Android).zip file available in the Records Manager Handheld Scanning Module section of iManage Help Center.

  2. Open the ZIP file and extract the iManage Barcode Scanner APK file (com.imanage.irm.androidscanner.apk).

  3. Transfer this file to your Android device (for example, using a USB connection or by Bluetooth).

  4. Using your Android device, browse to the folder that contains the downloaded (or transferred) APK file.

  5. Tap the APK file to open it. 

  6. You may receive a security notification at this point, which interrupts the installation.

    1. If so, adjust the device settings as needed to ensure that the installation continues (for example, to allow installation of apps from Unknown Sources, for this app).

    2. After adjusting the settings per Step a. above:

      1. Navigate back to the APK file.

      2. Tap the APK file to open it.

  7. The installation will begin.

  8. You may be prompted to specify app permissions for system access. If so, grant all permissions requested by the app.
    The installation will be complete. The iManage Barcode Scanner app will now be shown as an application in the applications list of your Android device.

  9. Browse to the relevant settings page on your Android device and ensure that storage permissions are granted to the iManage Bar Scanner app.

  10. On the Applications page of your Android device, tap the iManage Barcode Scanner icon to open the iManage Barcode Scanner app.

IRM Handheld Scanning Module (iManage Barcode Scanner app) is now available for use.
