As a rule, retention events having both a common event type and prerequisite record status can't be a part of the same retention schedule.
For example, the events in the following table are part of a common schedule. They share a common event type, but they differ in prerequisite record status.
Table: Events with common event type
Event details | Event A | Event B |
|---|---|---|
Event Name | Review Archived Records for Destruction, 10 Years after Matter Close | Review Active Records for Destruction, 10 Years after Matter Close |
Prerequisite Record Status | Archived | Active |
Event Type | Review for Destruction | Review for Destruction |
However, events in the table can't be on the same schedule because they both have the same event type and prerequisite record status. Their event types should be revised as shown in the table below.
Table: Events with common event type and prerequisite status
Event details | Event X | Event Y |
|---|---|---|
Event Name | Review Active Records for Destruction, 5 Years after Retention Start Date | Review Active Records for Destruction, 10 Years after Matter Close |
Prerequisite Record Status | Active | Active |
Event Type | Review for Destruction | Review for Destruction |
Revised Event Type | Review for Destruction—Retention Start Date | Review for Destruction—Matter Close |
