Manage retention policies
A retention policy in any records management system provides guidelines for the storage, and ultimate destruction of records that aren't actively used. The policy specifies individuals responsible for compliance with it, and also reasons for the suspension of the policy. Records are critical assets in any organization; having a retention policy ensures record retention for regulatory compliance, legal, and business purposes, while also making sure the timely disposition of unnecessary records. To sum up, a retention policy is used to manage the entire life cycle of a record.
In a typical retention life cycle, as the item moves through stages, its record status changes because of a retention event.
