Standards provide centralized control over the naming and structure of the file plan at the matter level. Each matter that is created or modified must conform to the business rules as set in the standards.

Standards help you ‌group templates by Practice Area. When you create a new matter that matches the Practice Area specified in the standard, the application helps you to create new file parts based on the templates from the matching standard.

Standards can contain multiple file-part templates. After you've created standards, you can create templates.
