1. In the Title panel on the Matters page, select  and then select New File Part.

  2. In the New File Part dialog, from the Select a Template drop-down menu, select the template for creating the file part.

  3. Select or enter the required values in the following fields: 

    • Name: Name for the file part.

    • Description: Short description of the file part.

    • Office/Department: Select and then select the location or group most responsible for the file part.

    • Responsible Attorney: Select and then select the user that has control over the file part.

    • Home Location: Selectand then select the location where the file part is stored when not in circulation.

    • ID: Unique code to identify the file part. If you don't enter an ID for the file part, the application automatically generates one.

    • Number of Records to Create: To create a batch of file parts simultaneously, enter the number of file parts in the Number of records to create field. This lets you create any number of new file parts with the same properties (metadata). You can create only as many file parts as the file part ID format (in terms of the number of characters) entered. 

4. Select New File Part to complete the operation.

NOTE: The fields described above are the default fields shown in the New File Part dialog. Some of these fields may be absent, or additional fields may be present, in your New File Part dialog per the configuration implemented by your system administrator. Likewise, any restrictions on the case of text entry characters may also be the result of the configuration specified by your system administrator.
