You can create two-way relationships between file parts. Relating helps to organize and group-file parts so that they can be easily retrieved.

  1. Search or browse for a file part and select it. This file part can be referred to as the 'source.'

  2. Select and then select Relate Item. 
    or
    Select   and then select Add Relationship in the Details panel.

    The Relate item dialog opens at the bottom of the page.

  3. From the drop-down list, select the relationship type:

    • Supersedes: The source replaces the target as the more current record.

    • Superseded by: The source is replaced by the target as the more current record.

    • Cross-Reference: The target and source are linked as cross-references.

    • Supported Document: The target is the supporting document for the source.

    • Supporting Document: The source is the supporting document for the target.

    • iManage Work Related Document

    • Electronic Rendition: The target is the electronic rendition of the supporting document.
      NOTE:

      For Electronic Renditions to function correctly, configuration must be applied by the system administrator. For more information, refer to the Configure IRM for Electronic Renditions section in iManage Records Manager Administration Guide.

  4. From the File Plan, select the file part that relates to the source. This file part can be referred to as the 'target.'
    NOTE:

    Specify the 'target' file part by selecting the row of that target file part.

  5. Select Relate to complete.

  6. (Optional) Select Back To Initial File to browse to the source file part (Standalone Web Client Only).

Viewing Related Records

  1. Search or browse for a file part and select it.

  2. Select . 

  3. In the details panel, select the Related tab to view the list of related file parts.

Removing the Relationship between File Parts

  1. Search or browse for a file part and select it.

  2. Select .

  3. In the details panel, on the Related tab, select the related file part and then select Remove Relationship.
