Matter security and collections
This subsection provides an overview of how matter security and collections security interact. For more detailed information, refer to Collections Security and Access.
- You can add matters with any type of matter security to a collection.
- If a user is a member of a matter's staffing as well as a member of a collection that includes that matter, the user's access will be determined by the matter security—note that matter security will change to Restricted by Collection, in the case of an open matter added to a restricted collection.
- For matters added to multiple collections, an additive security model is applied—for example if a matter is part of two restricted collections, a user only needs to be in the staffing of one collections to access the matter.
- Matters on opposite sides of opposing team sets can be added to a collection. However, collection staffing will be prevented from accessing either / any such matter.
- When you add an open matter to a restricted collection, the matter security changes to Restricted by Collection'. If such matter is removed from the collection, security for that matter will revert to Open.
- When you add a restricted matter to a restricted collection, you can elect to change the matter security to Restricted by Collection.
- If such matters are removed from the collection:
- They revert to asset-restricted security, if they are under a restricted asset—such as a restricted client group or case.
- They are set to open security, if they are under an open asset.
- If such matters are removed from the collection:
