About agents and integrations in iManage Security Policy Manager
When your organization stores sensitive client and matter material across multiple locations, systems, and file shares, it's important that security policies can be applied across these systems and repositories consistently and performantly. With iManage Security Policy Manager (iManage SPM), you can apply your organizational security policies across a wide range of systems.
To do this, iManage SPM supports the connection of multiple "agents": exclusive services that apply iManage SPM security to the systems to be secured (target systems). Each iManage SPM agent is installed separately and secures a single system or location type. Multiple agents of the same type can also be installed; such as when securing file shares in different geographical locations.
For example, if your organization has client and matter content stored in various geographical locations across iManage Work, Microsoft Windows File Shares, and Linux file shares, you can secure each of these with the corresponding agent.
When agents are connected to iManage SPM, security policy is applied via the agents to the target systems automatically, and the agents can be monitored and managed centrally from within the iManage SPM Administration Console.
When iManage SPM in the Cloud will secure other products in the iManage Cloud, such as iManage Work at cloudimanage.com or iManage Insight+, the corresponding agent is set up and deployed cloud-side by iManage. This type of agent, and its setup and deployment by iManage, comprise an integration.
Connect to iManage products in the iManage Cloud
You can connect iManage Security Policy Manager in the Cloud to other iManage products in the iManage Cloud.
If your organization is using iManage Records Manager in the Cloud or iManage Work in the Cloud, or is subscribed to iManage Tracker or iManage Insight+, you must request the deployment of these integrations, as described in the following sections:
Requesting deployment of the iManage Work in the Cloud integration with iManage SPM
Requesting deployment of the iManage Records Manager in the Cloud integration with iManage SPM
Requesting deployment of the iManage Tracker integration with iManage SPM
Requesting deployment of the iManage Insight+ integration with iManage SPM
Requesting deployment of the iManage Work in the Cloud integration with iManage SPM
Connecting iManage Security Policy Manager with iManage Work allows:
SPM policies to be applied in iManage Work
SPM users to connect directly to documents in Work
Sufficiently privileged Work users to connect to SPM to edit security policies or request access to documents
You can request that this integration is turned on, and if required, specify the iManage Work libraries to be secured.
For more information about how to do this, refer to the relevant subsection of the iManage Security Policy Manager section of iManage Cloud Services provisioning and requirements.
You can then submit a support request using the iManage Customer Success Operations Form.
Requesting deployment of the iManage Records Manager in the Cloud integration with iManage SPM
iManage Security Policy Manager is compatible with iManage Records Manager and supports configuration so that policies set in SPM can be applied to iManage Records Manager.
Requesting deployment of the iManage Tracker integration with iManage SPM
You can request that this integration be turned on.
For more information about how to do this, refer to the relevant subsection of the iManage Security Policy Manager section of iManage Cloud Services provisioning and requirements.
You can then submit a support request using the iManage Customer Success Operations Form.
Requesting deployment of the iManage Insight+ integration with iManage SPM
You can request that this integration be turned on.
For more information about how to do this, including prerequisites and library (Custom 1 / Custom 2) considerations, refer to iManage Security Policy Manager & iManage Insight+ Integration Guide. Also refer to the relevant subsection of the iManage Security Policy Manager section of iManage Cloud Services provisioning and requirements.
NOTE: For more information about the iManage Platform ID prerequisite, refer also to the Import of iManage Platform IDs from iManage Work section of Select data sources and import types.
You can then submit a support request using the iManage Customer Success Operations Form.
Connect to on-premises non-iManage target systems using agents
Each iManage Security Policy Manager agent has its own installation directory and, with the exception of iManage agents connecting to iManage products in the Cloud, must be installed on-premises by your organization. For more information about individual agents, see their corresponding guides. These agents and their guides are available to download from the latest iManage SPM Cloud Service Update.
Connect to on-premises iManage products using agents
You can connect iManage Security Policy Manager in the Cloud to:
iManage Work on-premises
iManage Records Manager on-premises
If your organization is using either of these products on-premises, this section is applicable to you. The connection to each on-premise product is dealt with separately.
Connecting SPM with iManage Work on-premises
Connecting iManage Security Policy Manager with iManage Work enables:
SPM policies to be applied in iManage Work
SPM users to connect directly to documents in Work
Sufficiently privileged Work users to connect to SPM to edit security policies or request access to documents
There are three steps to configure connection between iManage Security Policy Manager and iManage Work:
Prepare iManage Work for connection to SPM.
Configure and install iManage Work Agent for Security Policy Manager. The iManage Work Agent for SPM enables policies established in SPM to be communicated to iManage Work.
Configure optional enhancements to enable direct access to SPM from iManage Work.
For detailed procedural information on these steps, including compatibility information and related resources, refer to iManage Work agent for SPM and Preparation of iManage Work for SPM Integration. See also Add SPM applications to iManage Work.
Connecting SPM with iManage Records Manager on-premises
iManage Security Policy Manager is compatible with iManage Records Manager and supports configuration so that policies set in SPM can be applied to iManage Records Manager.
There are two steps to configure connection between SPM and iManage Records Manager:
Prepare iManage Records Manager for connection to SPM.
Configure and install iManage Records Manager Agent for Security Policy Manager. This agent enables policies established in SPM to be communicated to iManage Records Manager.
For detailed procedural information on these steps, including compatibility information and related resources, refer to iManage Records Manager (IRM) Agent for SPM and Preparation of IRM for SPM Integration.
