Searching for documents in iManage Drive for Mac
You can now search for a document or documents in a synced workspace from the iManage Drive for Mac application. To search for documents from iManage Drive for Mac, do the following:
- Open iManage Drive for Mac and connect to the iManage Work Server.
- Select in iManage Drive for Mac as shown in the following figure.

The Search window appears as shown in the following figure:

Alternatively, select Matters > Synced Matters. Hover over any of the workspace and then select displayed next to the workspace. The Search window appears with the selected workspace pre-populated. - Enter the search criteria for the document you want to search and select . You can search either by using a keyword or title using the search dropdown. You can also search for documents using Author/Operator by typing @ and then selecting the relevant user or by typing # and the document number. The results are displayed in the iManage Drive application as shown in the following figure:
Figure: Search results - Select the document you want to view and then select. To view the document in Finder, select Show in folder and to view the document in iManage Work, select View in iManage Work. Select to close your search results.
NOTE:
- The search returns 30 search results. However, your administrator can configure the number of search results iManage Drive can return using the
s
earch_show_max_results
setting available in the admin_settings.yaml file. The default value is 30 and the maximum value is 500. For more information about how to configure this value, consult your administrator or refer to the Configuring user settings section in iManage Drive Administrator Help. - You can search only for documents such as Microsoft Word documents, Microsoft Excel files, PDF files, and so on. Searching for emails is currently not supported and will be implemented in the future release of iManage Drive.
- When searching for documents with multiple versions saved to iManage Work, if the search criteria matches a version of a document that is not the latest version, then iManage Drive shows only the latest version of the document. To view the previous versions of the document, select View in iManage Work and select the version from the Versions panel in iManage Work.
- You can search for documents only if you are online. If you are offline, selecting displays a message as shown in the following figure:

Searching within iManage Drive for Mac folder in Finder
You can search for documents using the Search option that is available when you right-click on a folder or a sub-folder in Finder that correlates to a synced workspace and any tabs or folders within a synced workspace by doing the following:
- From Finder, navigate to a folder that correlates to a synced workspace, or any given tab or folder within the synced workspace.
- Right-click the folder and select Search as shown in the following figure:

NOTE:
- When searching within a folder or subfolder, the search results are limited to the folder or subfolder you have selected.
- You can also use the native search option available in Finder. When searching for documents using this option, the search results are displayed within the Finder.
Using search tips
Search tips are available to help you perform searches in iManage Drive for Mac. To view the search tips, select and the search tips are displayed as shown in the following figure:

Searching documents in different languages
You can search for your documents in any of the following languages: English, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, French, and German. To change the search language, select and select one of the following:
- English
- Spanish
- Chinese
- Japanese
- German
- French
Filtering your search results
The Filters function enables you to refine your search results based on document type and author/operator. To apply filters to the search results:
Select .
- Select the category of filter that you would like to apply. The following categories are available:
- File Type
- Author/Operator
Select one or more filter criteria from the options provided.
- Select anywhere on the iManage Drive for Mac application to view the filtered results.
Viewing searching results in iManage Work
You can view your search results in iManage Work even if you have applied filters for your search results. To view the search results in iManage Work, select in the iManage Drive for Mac Search window and the results are displayed in iManage Work.
