Microsoft Edge WebView2 integrated with iManage Work Desktop for Windows
iManage Work Desktop for Windows previously used DotNetBrowser Chromium control. From version 10.5.0 onwards, iManage Work Desktop for Windows uses Microsoft Edge WebView2 instead. Microsoft Edge WebView2 is integrated with:
Sign-in forms (OAuth 2.0, SAML, and Explicit)
Integrated application pickers including offline pickers (Open, Save As, and Save As New Version dialog boxes)
Integrated application task panes (Timelines, Properties, and Versions)
Send and File and Browse and File options
Microsoft Edge WebView2 runtime is not part of iManage Work Desktop for Windows installation package and must be installed prior to installing iManage Work Desktop for Windows 10.5.0 or later. iManage installer checks to see whether Microsoft Edge WebView2 runtime is installed. If it is not present, an error message states that Microsoft Edge WebView2 is required and the installer closes. For information about installing Microsoft Edge WebView2, refer to the Requirements section in iManage Work Desktop for Windows Installation Guide.
Microsoft Edge WebView2 and iManage Work Panel
In version 10.5.0, Microsoft WebView2 browser control was integrated with integrated dialog boxes to ensure iManage Work Desktop for Windows supports the Conditional Access policies enabled by the organization. For more information about this feature, refer to the refer to iManage Work Desktop for Windows Release Notes 10.5.0, available at iManage Help Center.
From version 10.7.0 onwards, iManage Work Panel also uses Microsoft WebView2 browser control. This feature requires iManage Work version 10.4.x for on-premises users and October 2021 Service update for iManage Work Cloud users. With this change, the previously used Chromium browser control is no longer required. However, for users using prior versions of iManage Work, Chromium browser control is installed out-of-the-box for backward compatibility when installing iManage Work Desktop for Windows.
When users switch from iManage Work 10.4.x to a prior version, the browser control in iManage Work Panel does not automatically switch to Chromium Control from Microsoft WebView2. Users have to restart Microsoft Outlook for iManage Work Panel to use Chromium Control.
In instances, if users have to switch to a prior version of iManage Work for a short period in Microsoft Outlook, then iManage Work Panel does not automatically switch to use the Chromium Control. Users must restart Microsoft Outlook in these cases.
