Formatted fields can be used to combine multiple properties into a single report field.
For example, if you add a formatted field and want to display data as Box Id-Box Name in the report, then you can define the format as {0}-{1} and select the relevant data fields from Schema Browser. {0} and {1} are placeholders for properties to insert into the string, and can be incremented to handle as many properties as you add to the formatted field.
You can add a formatted field to an existing or a new report. The steps to add a formatted field are described in this section, using the File Plan Summary report as an example.
To add a formatted field:
From the Control pane, select Formatted Field, and then drag the control into the open report. The Format Field dialog opens.
For example, to make the <clientid>-<clientName>.<matterid>: <matterName> string format appear in the report, enter the string {0}-{1}.{2}:{3} in the String Format field. The placeholders are defined as integers within the {} brackets.
To assign values for these placeholders, from Schema Browser in the left pane, select the schema fields, and then select Add. The schema fields are the values for these placeholders.
You can move the placeholder values up or down in the list. From the list in the right pane, select a schema name, and then select Move Up or Move Down.
You can remove a value from the collection. From the list on the right side, select a schema name, and then select Remove.
Select OK to save the settings and exit.
The formatted field is now displayed in the detail section of the report. The Datafield and Text properties are automatically updated for the control. On the toolbar, select Save.
