In this phase, you'll learn how to register the Primary_Sub_Practice relationship and also set the Managing_Partner and Primary_Practice properties as Required using the Edit Components section of Configuration Application Designer.

You may want some or all of the extended fields to be set as mandatory fields for a form. This is one way to ensure that in the Records Manager client applications the field value is entered or selected by the user, and not left empty.

In this phase, you'll set the Primary_Practice and Managing_Partner fields as mandatory and register the metadata relationship Primary_Sub_Practice. After the relationship is registered, the Primary_Practice and Sub_Practice fields in the form will share a parent-child relationship.

You can set the relationship for the parent metadata fields in a form only after the relationship has been registered in the Application Designer. However, it is not required to set the relationship status for the child field in a form.

  1. In Application Designer Navigation Pane, select Configuration.

  2. Select the Edit Components node under the Records Manager cluster name in the left pane.

  3. In the right pane, on the System Components tab, select Matter > Properties.

  4. On the Properties tab, all the available properties for the component Matter are displayed, including the extended properties and metadata tables.

  5. Select the Property Relations tab. The available relationships for that component appear in a list.

  6. For the Primary_Sub_Practice relationship, select the Registered check box.

  7. Select Close. This saves all the changes made to required properties and registered relationships.

  8. Select Close again.
