Task: Add roles to a group
Assign one or more roles to a group so that all members of the group immediately inherit those roles and have access to the associated features. The roles appear on the group's Roles tab, and group members will see these roles on their own Roles tabs labeled "Inherited role from group."
To add roles to a group:
Go to Configuration > Roles. The Users/Groups tab displays by default.
Use the search bar to locate and select the group.
Select + Add Role. The Add Roles dialog opens, showing roles that can be assigned.
Select the roles to assign:
Select a row to highlight it
Select the row again to deselect it
Select the check box beside Name to select all roles
Select Deselect (is displayed after at least one selection is made) to clear all selections
Select OK to assign the selected roles, or Cancel to discard changes. To close the dialog without saving, select the X.
The selected roles are assigned to the group. All members of the group immediately inherit these roles. The roles now appear on the group's Roles tab. Group members see these roles labeled "Inherited role from group" on their own Roles tabs.
IMPORTANT:
Roles already assigned to the group do not appear in the list of available roles
When a role is assigned to a group, all current members of the group immediately inherit that role
If an active group with members and assigned roles is disabled:
The roles are removed from the group members' access
The roles remain assigned to the group definition
If the group is reactivated, the roles are automatically assigned again to the group members
