File your content to iManage Work by dragging one or more files, folders, emails, and attachments, or a combination of these from the Finder, any location on your Mac, and Outlook: 

  • Single or multiple files, folders, and emails or a combination of these from Finder or any location on your Mac
  • Single email from Microsoft Outlook (classic view)
  • Single or multiple emails from Microsoft Outlook (new view)
  • Single or multiple email attachments from Microsoft Outlook (classic and new view)

NOTE:

Dragging of single/multiple emails or attachments from Apple Mail isn't supported. 

  1. Select the iManage Agent  menulet on the Mac menu bar and select Open iManage Work.
  2. Browse to the required matter, folder, or tab in iManage Work and drop the content from the Finder, any location on your Mac, or Microsoft Outlook.
    The iManage upload dialog box appears displaying the list of items and their upload status. A  is displayed for each item when uploaded.

From iManage Work Server 10.3.3 onwards, emails dragged into iManage Work retain their metadata information. This feature is available when iManage Work Desktop for Mac launches iManage Work using:

  • Google Chrome browser that opens when the Enable Chrome Browser Authentication option is set to true. For more information, refer to the Configuring application settings section in iManage Work Desktop for Mac Installation Guide.
  • Safari browser that opens by default if the Chrome browser isn't enabled. 

Dragging content into the Work Panel in Microsoft Outlook

You can also drag documents, files, emails, and attachments into the Work Panel in Microsoft Outlook. In the iManage Work panel, select Open Work panel to access the iManage Work view from within Microsoft Outlook. The classic view in Microsoft Outlook has some limitations that may cause the Work Panel to become unresponsive. In such scenarios, switch to New Outlook. For more information, refer to NT-119966 in the Known issues section in iManage Work for Mac Release NotesTo use this feature in New Outlook, you need to have Microsoft Outlook for Mac 16.70 or later.

Dragging emails

You can drag only one email from your Microsoft Outlook at a time into a folder in the iManage Work view in the panel; dragging multiple emails isn't supported. An iManage Agent notification is displayed in Work Panel notifying you about the filing progress and completion. The email appears in the folder where it's filed and the Filed to iManage label is applied to the email.

NOTE:

The Filed to iManage label  appears for dragged emails only if you use the following iManage Work Server versions: 

  • On-premises: 10.4.5.16 or later 
  • Cloud: Work 10—February 2023 (#12) or later

If you want the emails that you drag into Work Panel, to be deleted from Microsoft Outlook after getting filed to iManage Work, ensure that the Preferences > Delete original message after filing option is checked in iManage Agent  menulet. With this option selected, an iManage Agent notification is displayed in Work Panel notifying you about the filing progress and its completion. The email gets deleted from Microsoft Outlook and is moved to the iManage Work folder where you'd dragged it.

NOTE:

This option is in sync with/serves the same purpose as the Delete Original Message After Filing option in the com.imanage.configuration.plist file. Restart iManage Agent after you update the option in the configuration file.
