NOTE:

The iManage Work options on the Services menu work only if you use the classic Outlook view; the options don’t function in new Outlook.

Saving emails and attachments

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook or Apple Mail.
  2. Select one or more emails that you want to save or emails for which you want to save the attachments.
  3. Select the application name on the Mac menu bar. The menu options are displayed.
  4. Point to Services and select one of the following options:
    • Save Attachments

      NOTE:

      Currently, the option to select a specific attachment for filing to iManage Work is not available. You can file all the attachments only in the selected email(s).

    • Save Email Message

      NOTE:

      To ensure that emails you file to iManage Work using the Services > Save Email Message option get deleted after they are filed, select the Preferences > Delete original message after filing option on the iManage menulet . This setting applies to both, Apple Mail and Microsoft Outlook.


    The Choose a Location dialog box is displayed.
  5. Navigate to the desired folder in iManage Work. You can also select a workspace for filing if it has the default email filing folder. For more information, refer to Filing to the default email filing folder in a workspace.
    The email(s) or attachment(s) are saved to iManage Work.

NOTE:

  • You can also drag email attachments to the desired folder in iManage Work. This feature is currently supported only for Apple Mail.
  • For Microsoft Outlook emails that are saved to iManage Work, the  label appears in the list view and the  label appears to the right-side of the email subject in the reading pane.

Selecting the attachments to save

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook or Apple Mail.
  2. Select one or more emails for which you want to save the attachments.
  3. Select the application name on the Mac menu bar. The menu options are displayed.

  4. Point to Services and choose Select and Save Attachments. The Save Attachments to iManage dialog box is displayed and:
    • All attachments from all emails are selected by default.
    • The New Document option is enabled and the New Version option is disabled.
    • The Use same destination folder option is selected by default. If you want to file each attachment to a different folder in iManage Work, clear this option.

    1. The Choose a Location dialog box is displayed. 
    2. Navigate to the desired folder in iManage Work and then choose Select. You can also select a workspace for filing if it has the default email filing folder. For more information, refer to Filing to the default email filing folder in a workspace.
      The attachments are saved to iManage Work and a notification is displayed.

      Select New Document to save all attachments (selected by default) to the same folder, or select only the attachments you want to save. Perform the following steps:

    NOTE:

    If the Use the same destination folder option is cleared, the Choose a Location to Save Attachment: <Attachment file name> dialog box is displayed for every selected attachment and you have to repeat the aforementioned steps for each attachment.

    (Alternatively) Select one of the attachments and then select New Version to save the attachment as a new version of an existing file in iManage Work. Perform the following steps:

    1. The Select the file to Update dialog box is displayed with the list of checked out documents.

    2. Select a file from the list or navigate to the desired file in another folder.
    3. Select Save
    4. Update the information about this version in the New Version dialog box and select Save. The attachment is saved to iManage Work as a new version and a notification is displayed.

Save using the context menu option

  1. Select one or more email files on your Mac (.eml and .msg).
  2. Right-click any of the selected emails and then select Upload to iManage Work.
  3. Navigate to the folder where you want to save the files and select Save
    A notification is displayed to inform you that the documents are saved to iManage Work.

Alternatively, you can upload Microsoft Outlook emails and attachments on your Mac by dragging them to iManage Work. For more information, refer to Dragging folders, files, emails, and attachments into iManage Work
