When you want to edit files uploaded to iManage Work at cloudimanage.com using Microsoft 365 for the web or the Microsoft 365 applications for desktop, or Microsoft 365 for iOS, ensure the file you want to edit doesn't exceed the file size limitation listed below:
Microsoft Word file: 100 MB
Microsoft Excel file: 100 MB
Microsoft PowerPoint file: 300 MB
If a file reaches the size mentioned above while being edited in Microsoft 365 for the web, a yellow bar with the following message is displayed, “Couldn’t save latest changes. To avoid losing the highlighted changes, copy and paste them ino the document in a new tab“. You can no longer edit the file in Microsoft 365 for the web as the file is now displayed in View mode.
Although all your changes are saved to iManage Work at cloudimanage.com, we recommend that you copy and paste the content into a new file.
If you try to edit a file that is nearing or exceeds the size limitation, then the following message is displayed:
Microsoft Word 365 for the web: “Couldn’t save highlighted changes. To avoid losing them, open this document in new tab and paste these changes. If you refresh this tab, you’ll lose these changes.
Microsoft Excel 365 for the web: “Workbook Almost Too Large When last checked, your workbook had almost exceeded the maximum size allowed. You should reduce the file size of your workbook.”
Microsoft PowerPoint 365 for the web: There's no message displayed and all your edits are saved. However, when you refresh the file, the edit option is disabled.
For files that reach the Microsoft 365 for the web size limit, you can continue editing the file using the Microsoft 365 applications for the desktop, if your administrator has configured the Microsoft 365 for the desktop application in iManage Control Center, and you've added iiManage using Add a Place in Microsoft Windows devices or Manage Storage Accounts in macOS devices.
TIP: Although Microsoft doesn’t specify a size limit for co-authoring files using the Microsoft 365 applications for the desktop or Microsoft 365 for iOS, for an optimal user experience, we recommend that you use explicit checkout to edit file files larger than the values specified above. It's possible that large files may time out when trying to open or may not open at all.
