As items are filed to the Records Manager file plan, the metadata for each item is also set. Because the metadata differs between Records Manager Server and iManage Work, iManage Records Policy Service captures original iManage Work metadata and transforms it into equivalent Records Manager metadata according to a metadata mapping configuration. The iManage Work metadata that is captured is relevant for retention scheduling and eligibility reporting. Records Manager manages a separate journal of metadata, as in the case of physical records.
The following table provides an overview of the mapping that is possible between iManage Work and Records Manager. For each media type, there are different metadata mapping configurations. For more information, refer to iManage Records Manager Administration Guide.
NOTES: Make sure that metadata is:
Mapped precisely because it's displayed when searching and reporting in Records Manager.
Mapped according to a configuration because it's used to trigger retention events.
