You can browse to a file and open it in edit mode using one or all the methods even the file is marked with a  red globe icon against it:

  • Microsoft 365 for the web

  • Microsoft 365 applications for the desktop (Microsoft Windows and macOS devices)

  • Microsoft 365 applications for iOS, Microsoft Word for iOS, Microsoft Excel for iOS, or Microsoft PowerPoint for iOS device

You just need to have:

  • iManage Work and Microsoft 365 accounts.

  • Read/write access or full access to a file saved to iManage Work.

Alternatively, if you receive the URL from within the editing session, you can select the URL and open the file directly in Microsoft 365 for the web or open the file using Preview in iManage Work at cloudimanage.com.

If the link is sent to you by a user using the Copy Link option available in iManage Work at cloudimanage.com, selecting the file will open it in Preview, by default. When the file opens in Preview, you can make your edits either in a browser, Microsoft 365 desktop application, or on iOS devices. For more information about how to make your edits, refer to, refer to Editing files

If you see a lock icon against a file, it denotes that the file is checked out exclusively and it isn’t possible to open this file to co-author using the iManage Work Next Generation Co-authoring menu options. You can however, open the file in View mode in Microsoft 365 for the web or Microsoft 365 applications for the desktop, or Microsoft Word for iOS, Microsoft Excel for iOS, or Microsoft PowerPoint for iOS applications.

Additionally, if you see a red globe icon next to a file and it's checked out using iManage Work with Microsoft Office for the web menu options, you can’t co-author the files using iManage Work Next Generation Co-authoring menus (that is Edit (Co-author) options).
