Who decides on the data classification? Post-decision, is the classification process automatic?

  • iManage decides on the classification of events and properties into Group A and Group B data.
    The data classification process is automated.

Is group A data stored in the same PostgreSQL database?

  • Yes, all information is stored in the database.

Do customers have to pay for the license of the PostgreSQL database?

  • There's no licensing fee for PostgreSQL databases as it's an open-source.
    iManage recommends using Microsoft Azure, and the associated costs may be covered under Microsoft365 license.

Where is Segment geographically located?

  • Twilio Segment is located in both the US and EU regions.
    For Insight+, it's only in the EU region.

Does data processing take place within the EU region? Where exactly are the data centers?

  • All iManage suppressors and their regions are disclosed in our Compliance portal. For more information, refer to iManage Trust Center.

How long does Segment keep the data?

  • Twilio’s Segment doesn't persist the data beyond what is required for data delivery. It's primarily a data delivery processor.
    Segment retains temporary data for 14 days.

What happens if connectivity to the Segment database is lost?

  • Segment pushes data to the database with a failure rate of less than 1%. In cases of failure, Segment persists data locally until the connection is re-established, and then the transmission resumes.

NOTE: If you change the encryption key after initial setup, the data passed from that point onward will be encrypted using the new key.

Can clients integrate PowerBI directly with PostgreSQL databases, or use another database as an option, for example—Microsoft SQL Server?

  • PowerBI can connect to PostgreSQL database. Alternatively, PostgreSQL data can be piped to another warehouse like Microsoft SQL Server, though iManage doesn’t support a direct connection to it.

Does iManage support the segment Azure Synapse connector, or Databricks connectors, instead of the PostgreSQL connector as part of Customer Analytics solution?

  • Currently, our Customer Analytics solution supports only the PostgreSQL connector. We don’t support Azure Synapse or Databricks connectors at this time.

Does Twilio Segment—Customer Data Platform client support SCRAM Authentication, as per article Connectivity with SCRAM - Azure Database for PostgreSQL | Microsoft Learn?

  • Segment doesn’t support SCRAM authentication currently.
