Once your data is prepared and your environment is configured, use these commands to run the import on Windows, macOS, or Linux. Both CSV and SQL imports are supported.

  1. Open Command Prompt (Windows) or Terminal (macOS/Linux).

  2. (Optional) Use the --help command to view available options.

  3. Enter the import command and the relevant arguments for your operating system.

NOTE: All import commands require the server URL or hostname, as applicable, and port 8090.

Import commands for Windows

For CSV import

.../user-metadata-importer.exe import csv -s [TM URL/HOSTNAME AND PORT (8090)] -f [DATA SOURCE FILE] [OPTIONAL ARGUMENTS]

Where:

  • .../ is the file path to the downloaded user-metadata-importer.exe.

  • For the [DATA SOURCE FILE] argument -f or --file, multiple CSV files can be specified.
    For example: path/to/1.csv --file path/to/2.csv.

  • For [TM URL/HOSTNAME AND PORT (8090)], "TM IP/HOSTNAME/URL", use the same URL or hostname used to access the iManage Threat Manager appliance, and port 8090.
    For example: https://my-tm-instance.mydomain.com:8090.

For SQL import

.../user-metadata-importer.exe import sql -s [TM URL/HOSTNAME AND PORT (8090)] -f [DATA SOURCE FILE] [OPTIONAL ARGUMENTS]

Where:

  • .../ is the file path to the downloaded user-metadata-importer.exe.

  • For the [DATA SOURCE FILE] argument -f or --file, multiple SQL files can be specified.
    For example: path/to/1.sql --file path/to/2.sql

  • For [TM URL/HOSTNAME AND PORT (8090)], "TM IP/HOSTNAME/URL", use the same URL or hostname used to access the iManage Threat Manager appliance, with port 8090.
    For example: https://my-tm-instance.mydomain.com:8090.

If you performed the optional initial step and you’re using the Windows account specified in that step and the same host device, the token and secret arguments aren’t required (unless the token has since been invalidated). Otherwise, add these arguments.

If a task identifier hasn’t been specified in the installation, or if you want to create a new task identifier for the import, add the task identifier arguments.

Import commands for macOS or Linux

For CSV import

.../python custom_import_properties.py import csv -s [TM URL/HOSTNAME AND PORT (8090)] -f [DATA SOURCE FILE] [OPTIONAL ARGUMENTS]

Where:

  • .../ is the file path to the downloaded custom_import_properties.py file.

  • For the [DATA SOURCE FILE] argument -f or --file, multiple CSV files can be specified.
    For example: path/to/1.csv --file path/to/2.csv

  • For [TM URL/HOSTNAME AND PORT (8090)], "TM IP/HOSTNAME/URL", use the same URL or hostname used to access the Threat Manager appliance, and port 8090.
    For example: https://my-tm-instance.mydomain.com:8090.

For SQL import

.../python custom_import_properties.py import sql -s [TM URL/HOSTNAME AND PORT (8090)] -f [DATA SOURCE FILE] [OPTIONAL ARGUMENTS]

Where:

  • .../ is the file path to the downloaded custom_import_properties.py file.

  • For the [DATA SOURCE FILE] argument -f or --file, multiple SQL files can be specified.
    For example: path/to/1.sql --file path/to/2.sql

  • For [TM URL/HOSTNAME AND PORT (8090)], "TM IP/HOSTNAME/URL", use the same URL or hostname used to access the iManage Threat Manager appliance, and port 8090.
    For example: https://my-tm-instance.mydomain.com:8090

If you’ve performed the optional initial step and you’re using the same host device, the token and secret arguments aren't required (unless the token has since been invalidated). Otherwise, add these arguments. If a task identifier hasn’t been specified in the installation, or if you want to create a new task identifier for the import, add the task identifier arguments.

The import proceeds. If a task identifier has been specified, you can view the task status in the iManage Threat Manager user console (in Configuration > Settings > Status).
