The iManage Threat Manager User Metadata Importer is a standalone command-line application that lets you import, update, and remove user metadata in iManage Threat Manager (such as practice area, department, or telephone), helps filter user lists, assign roles, and assess alerts. You can import data from CSV files or SQL queries, and import tasks run independently without requiring interaction with the iManage Work application.
You can import metadata for existing users in iManage Threat Manager, or for new users who will be added by ingestion, provided their user ID matches an iManage Work account.
Each import task can be assigned a unique task identifier, which appears in the Threat Manager console. Task identifiers let the system track import activity and notify administrators and designated users (as specified in Settings > System > External Metadata Importer Notifications) if an import fails.
TIP: You can assign multiple task identifiers to track separate imports. For example, one identifier may track Practice Area imports from a CSV file, while another tracks Department imports from an SQL database.
TIP: This chapter is intended for system administrators responsible for securely importing, managing, and maintaining user metadata in iManage Threat Manager, including automation, monitoring, and troubleshooting. If you only need a basic, one-time import, start with the Quickstart: Importing user metadata.
