Inserting footers

To insert a footer into a document that is saved to iManage Work, open the document, and select Insert Footer on the iManage tab.

The footer contains the following information:

  • Document reference number and version

  • Database name

  • Document name

NOTE:

  • This functionality is only applicable to Microsoft Word.

  • The information displayed in the footer can differ based on the settings configured using the iwFooterFormat key. For more information, refer to the imWorkOptions.xml section in iManage Work Desktop for Windows Customization Guide.

The version number in the footer gets updated whenever a new version of the document is saved. To view/use the editing and formatting options, right-click the footer and then select Edit Footer.

To ensure that the footer is inserted automatically whenever you save a document to iManage Work, set the value of the AutoInsert key to Y. If the automatic insertion of footers feature is enabled, the iManage footer replaces any existing custom footer in documents. For more information, refer to the imWorkOptions.xml section in iManage Work Desktop for Windows Customization Guide.

NOTE:

From version 10.6 onwards, your administrator can define the font size, font type, and positioning of the footer using the following new configuration settings FontSize, FontName, and Alignment available in imWorkOptions.xml file. For more information about these configuration settings contact your administrator or refer to the imWorkOptions.xml section in iManage Work Desktop for Windows Customization Guide.

In addition, iManage Work Desktop for Windows can now detect if Different First Page check box is enabled and when saving the document, if AutoInsert configuration is enabled, it applies the footer to all pages.
